With a strong script, smart direction from Matthew Vaughn and a stellar cast, X-Men: First Class is both a mature origins story and an entertainingly ambitious superhero film. The chemistry between McAvoy and Fassbender is fantastic, Jennifer Lawrence is great in her first mainstream role, and Kevin Bacon is convincing as the lead antagonist.
